# Swing-out Shelving

Swing-out shelving – for more momentum in your warehouse!

Long items such as pipes or rods are often stored horizontally. With this type of stock, this helps to save space. It also prevents pipes made of copper or other flexible materials, for example, from bending. Swivel-arm racking systems are particularly practical for horizontal storage, as their storage levels open and close with a „swing“. In a swivel-arm racking system, the stored goods „disappear“ against the wall, saving space. And they are easy to operate.

What are the advantages of swing-out racking?

Racking with swing-out arms is also known as cantilever racking. The advantages of swing-out racking are as follows:

Storage of long goods in a small space

simple functionality

easy access to stored goods

maximum flexibility

… resulting in greater efficiency in warehouse logistics

Without a professional, swing-out storage system, accessing stored goods is often difficult. Here, the long goods are stored in the „furthest corner“, and any bars or profiles in front of or above them must be moved out of the way. High-value goods are stored on the floor, where they can be damaged or pose a dangerous tripping hazard.

A storemaster® system such as ArmStrong® SwingOut – the name says it all – features high-load-bearing arms that can be swung out and back in with the greatest of ease. storemaster® swing-out racking is compact, robust and extremely durable. They offer maximum flexibility and contribute to efficient warehouse logistics. The ArmStrong® SwingOut system, for example, can be operated from one or both sides. Long goods stored horizontally can be accommodated loose, in bundles or in cassettes.

The cantilever arms can be extended manually or electrically in a matter of seconds. This eliminates the need for warehouse staff to perform tiring or dangerous manual tasks – and the warehouse operates more efficiently and productively. In short: a swing-out racking system such as ArmStrong® SwingOut literally brings „momentum“ to the warehouse.

The range of accessories for a swing-out racking system includes material trays and shelf dividers. With stabilising levelling feet, swing-out racking systems compensate for uneven floors, ensuring that the arms are always in a horizontal position. Telescopic arms with a locking mechanism make it easier to swing out heavy shelves. Lifting magnets are also often included among the accessories.

What are swing-out racking systems suitable for?

Long items such as pipes, sections or sheet metal are best stored lying flat. Warehouse logistics teams can choose whether to store the goods loose, in bundles or in cassettes. Swing-out racking is particularly practical and space-saving because the storage arms simply extend with a single swivel and then „disappear“ back into the racking system.

Systems such as ArmStrong® SwingOut are potentially suitable for any warehouse. Construction companies use them to store beams, planks or other long goods. For specialist plumbing suppliers, swing-out racking is primarily used for storing pipes. Exhibition stand construction firms use them to store the profiles, frames and panels for modular exhibition stands. In wholesale and DIY stores, swing-out racking allows both staff and customers to clearly view and organise stock levels.
