# Push-through safety device for double racking

Push-through protection for double racking is a system for double pallet racking with handling on both sides. Double-sided handling or double-sided operation means that forklift trucks, for example, can access the racking from two sides and load and unload it. The push-through protection prevents the pallet behind the rack from shifting during loading and unloading.



What are the advantages of push-through protection?



Displacements in pallet racking can be dangerous. Especially if the pallets are heavily loaded, for example with coils or heavy goods of great lengths. When moving, the weight shifts and the racking system can be damaged or even become unstable.



Push-through protection prevents pallets from shifting and the pallet racking from tipping over, for example. They also prevent the pallets behind the loaded or unloaded pallet from slipping out. Even a small operating error by the forklift driver can cause a „mishap“. In this way, push-through safety devices increase work safety.



Push-through safety devices are not mandatory. They are obsolete if the double racking is configured in accordance with the DGUV regulations (DGVU 108-007, points 4.2.4.4 and 4.2.4.5). Push-through protection is necessary if the minimum distance between the pallets in the racking is only 100 millimetres or less or cannot be maintained.



Push-through protection differs from manufacturer to manufacturer. Usually, the stop jumps out of the bracket above a certain impact load. In any case, the push-through safety catches are not intended as end stops for pallet storage. They are not statically designed for this purpose.



What is a push-through securing device suitable for?



Push-through protection is used for safe storage in pallet racking if the minimum distance of ten centimetres between the pallets cannot be maintained.
